STATE ASA: Idaho Sliders, Spokane Mudhens win state titles at Ramsey

Sophia Peralta went 3 for 4 as the Idaho Sliders of Boise beat the South Idaho Ice of Twin Falls 8-2 in the championship game of the ASA 12-and-under state softball tournament Sunday at Ramsey Park.

The Sliders qualified for the ASA/USA class A nationals July 26-Aug. 2 in Sacramento.

Idaho Sliders 3, South Idaho Ice 2: Riley McGrath went 2 for 3 in the win that sent the Sliders to the championship game.

Loser-out games

Spokane Stealth Tibbits 4, Spokane Diamonds Cushner 3: Faith Iverson had two hits, including a triple, and scored three runs for the Stealth, which won it with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Diamonds tied for fifth.

Idaho Flash 10, Spokane Stealth Palmer 9: Taylor Brewer went 3 for 4 and scored two runs for the Flash. Stealth Palmer tied for fifth.

Idaho Flash 11, Spokane Stealth Tibbits 6: Taylor Brewer and Izy Peters each went 4 for 5 in the win. The Stealth Tibbits placed fourth.

South Idaho Ice 12, Idaho Flash 3: The Flash finished third.

The Spokane Mudhens beat the Idaho Sliders of Boise 8-5 in the second championship game to win the ASA 10U state tournament at Ramsey Park.

Both teams qualify for their choice of two tourneys - nationals in Normal, Ill., or western nationals in Clovis, Calif.

Abigail Flerchinger doubled and drove in two runs for the Mudhens in the deciding title game. Ysabella Villegas was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Sliders, and Ava McPhillips was 2 for 3 and drove in three runs.

In the first title game, the Sliders beat the Mudhens 7-6. Annie Swanson scored the winning run on a single by Villegas in the bottom of the sixth. Isabella Bay went 2 for 3 with three runs in the loss.

Earlier, the Sliders beat the Boise Blast 10-1 as Joely Crider struck out six and Abby Vanderwiel was 3 for 3 with three RBIs. The Blast finished third.

The Sliders opened the day by beating the Lewis-Clark Warriors 12-11. Vanderwiel hit a three-run homer as the Sliders scored six in the sixth to win it.
