Game times set for

EWU football games

CHENEY - Game times for all 11 Eastern Washington University football games - all on Saturdays - have been set, including all five home games at Roos Field

Eastern's home opener on Sept. 19 against Montana State - a non-conference game - will begin at 1:05 p.m. Pacific time and be televised live regionally by ROOT Sports. Eastern's home game on Oct. 31 versus Weber State and Nov. 14 at Montana will also be televised by ROOT, and will start at 12:05 p.m., but could be moved to 12:35 p.m. once ROOT's NBA schedule is finalized.

Eastern's other three home games - Cal Poly (1:05 p.m. on Oct. 10), Northern Arizona (3:05 p.m. on Nov. 7) and Portland State (2:05 p.m. on Nov. 21) will be televised regionally by SWX.

Eastern athletic director Bill Chaves said EWU likes to play early-season home games in the evening to take advantage of more pleasant weather. But that wasn't possible with this year's schedule, which includes 10 opponents at the NCAA Football Championship level, as well as the school's opener against last year's NCAA Bowl Championship Series runner-up Oregon.

"All of our times are now dictated by contractual obligations," explained Chaves. "We know that kickoffs later in the day may be more desirable early in the season, but that wasn't an option this year."
