COURT: Tearing our nation in half

| July 10, 2015 9:00 PM

I am surprised at the local media being mum on the backlash of the gay marriage ruling. The persecution and legal prosecution of Christians is in full throttle. So, are we now to sacrifice religious liberties for gay marriage? I hate to break it to the city of Coeur d’Alene, but even if you ignore the First Amendment, there is also the 13th Amendment. No one shall be forced to perform a labor against their will.

Slavery was abolished. And performing a wedding ceremony or baking a cake, etc., is a “labor.” So, take note you all. We are a nation of laws. And the supreme law of the land is the Constitution. I don’t think that State Supreme courts or Scotus took into account the effect passing gay marriage would have on religious liberties. I think they did so on purpose. It couldn’t have passed otherwise. I am also tired of everyone assuming that I hold my beliefs because of religion or the Bible. I haven’t been to church since 1975. But to try and stick me in a mold to justify intolerance for opposing beliefs is bigotry in itself.

Where did Scotus get the power to redefine a word? And changing the dictionary doesn’t change 2,000 years of meaning for marriage. A union between a man and a woman. This will divide this nation in half. Maybe that was their goal.
