May I make a suggestion to Millie Hayes’ daughter? If you’re living with your mother, get the hell out. She’s making you a victim. I think this is the second letter your mother wrote about you being unable to find work. I don’t see any letters from some of the other 200 people she said are also out of work.

If you’re in a union, go to the hall and make a pest out of yourself. Don’t turn down a job if one is offered. The more you decline a job, the longer it will take you to get one. Even if they offer you just a one- or two-week job, take it. It shows them you want to work and will also get your foot in the door.
