Geraldine Slusser Chambers, 72
Geraldine Slusser Chambers, 72, of Hayden, Idaho, died June 16, 2015, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Christiansburg, Va., on Aug. 17, 1942, to Paul Leslie and Mary Caldwell Slusser.
Known as "Deen" to her family and "Jerry" to her friends, she moved to Idaho and worked in Bayview at the Naval Surface Warfare Center and then at the Inland Northwest Blood Center before retiring.
Geraldine sang in the Sweet Adelines and volunteered at United Way. She loved riding on the back of the Harley with her husband, Jim. She served as Historian for the Lone Wolf Harley Owners Group, and was active in the Ladies of Harley.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Howard Slusser. She is survived by her husband, James Chambers; son James Couch and his wife Lisa of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Leslie Buettner and her partner Jeff Harkins of Woodbridge, Va., grandchildren Brandon, Kayla and Christopher Couch of San Antonio, Texas; nieces Andrea Carbone and Heidi Brown of R.I., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Blacksburg, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
