Cape Horn residents offered escorted site visits to homes
Evacuated residents of the Cape Horn area near Bayview will have an opportunity to be escorted into the site Wednesday to survey their homes and collect essential items such as medications.
Beginning at 8 a.m., personnel from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office and Timberlake Fire District will provide the escorts.
Affected residents need to stop by the Bayview Community Center beginning at 8 a.m. to reserve a time slot.
"Time is very limited, so residents will only have a few minutes at their homes. Fire and law enforcement personnel will then drive the residents back to the Community Center," stated a press release issued Tuesday night by the sheriff's office. "While this is currently the plan, be advised that any resurgence or change in fire conditions may push this back."
