Officials: Prepare to evacuate; six structures burned; fire now 600 acres
We received this update from Jim Lyon, public information officer with North Lakes Fire district, just after 11 p.m.
"Fire officials are requesting residents of Bayview east of Main and Marietta be prepared to evacuate in the morning if fire conditions continue towards Bayview in the morning.
We have at least six confirmed structures/houses at eastern end of cape horn road.
All evacuees can go to Timberlake high school in Spirit Lake where Red Cross has set up. Residents should prepare a go kit with medications, vital documents, pets and pet supplies. A reverse 911 call by the sheriff dept. Will be sending a a evac preparation notice tonight. Timberlake fire boat made some direct house saves from the water. An operation briefing will be at 5 a.m.
Crews have made way through rock debris in road to set up additional structure protection at eastern end of cape horn road between east slide bay road and cape horn circle.
Type 3 and type 2 teams are forming to assist with command operations and will begin arriving this morning and next 24 to 36 hours.
No injuries have been reported at this time. Cause of fire has not been determined and is under investigation.
The federal incident reporting system was updated just before 11 p.m. The fire has grown to 600 acres.
