Winston & Cashatt hires a new associate attorney

Winston & Cashatt announced the addition of a new associate attorney, Megan M. Marshall, to its litigation team.

Marshall received her undergraduate degree in English in 2008 and her law degree in 2011, both from the University of Idaho. She joins Winston & Cashatt after working at the Kootenai County Public Defender's Office for more than three years.

While attending law school, Marshall worked at the Whitman County Prosecutor's office and at the ACLU of Idaho. Marshall's practice primarily focuses on criminal defense, civil litigation and employment law.

Winston & Cashatt is a multidisciplinary, regional law firm that has been serving clients for more than 40 years. The firm represents a roster of local and national clients through its offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene.

Crandall receives estate planning accreditation

Jeffery J. Crandall, Esq., of Crandall Law Group in Hayden is newly certified as an Accredited Estate Planner designee by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.

Crandall is a business and estate planning attorney with nearly 30 years of experience in business succession, real estate, tax, estate planning, and elder law matters.

Crandall accomplished the Accredited Estate Planner designation to better serve his clients.

He is licensed in Idaho, Washington and California, and has been practicing in the Coeur d'Alene area for over 20 years. In addition to being a member of the bar associations in the states where he is licensed, Crandall is a member of the Kootenai County Bar Association; National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and Coeur d'Alene Estate Planning Council.

He received his J.D. degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law with distinction in 1985. His undergraduate studies were completed at Brigham Young University in Utah, achieving a B.S. degree in Business Management (Finance), with a minor in Accounting and Economics. He is a 1975 graduate of Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Wash.

Crandall's professional experience reflects a wide variety of law office environments, a 150-plus attorney firm in Southern California, sole practice in North Idaho, mid-sized business and litigation firm, and boutique firm specializing in business and estate planning. He has also served as the general counsel for a publicly-held NASDAQ traded company.

Crandall has received numerous honors and awards, participates in many civic activities, and is a published writer.

Social Security dinner seminar planned

Pat Wardian, president and CEO of Wardian Wealth Management in Coeur d'Alene will present a dinner seminar offering ways to maximize Social Security benefits.

Wardian will discuss how benefits are calculated, offer simple ways to increase them, and how married couples can maximize their Social Security by coordinating their benefits.

The dinner seminar will be held July 14 at 6 p.m. and again July 16 at the same time at Barlow's at Liberty Lake, 1428 N. Liberty Lake Lane. A complimentary dinner will be served following the presentation. Tickets to this event are free, however a limited number of seats are available.

Durbin wins Spirit of Partnership Award

Rick Durbin of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Post Falls recently won the firm's Spirit of Partnership Award for outstanding performance during 2014.

"Rick has demonstrated unyielding dedication and enthusiasm for his business of serving individual investors," said Jim Weddle, the firm's managing partner, in a press release. "Rick has reached a benchmark in his career that deserves recognition, and the Spirit of Partnership Award provides that recognition. I am proud to call him an Edward Jones financial advisor."

Durbin said he is honored to receive the award.

Ballet Coeur d'Alene dance school changing locations

Ballet Coeur d'Alene dance school has moved to 501 E. Lakeside, where downtown visitors can get a glance of the dancers through the large windows.
