RULING: Proof of too much power

| July 3, 2015 9:00 PM

The Supreme Court is out of control. The High Court is making its decisions based on the personal preferences of the judges — not on our existing laws or on our traditions. If a judge likes an idea then he or she declares that idea to be constitutional and it becomes the Law of the Land. If the judge does not like the idea then he or she declares the law to be unconstitutional and void in our society. These decisions have the full force of law and they overrule all the laws passed by the legislative branch of our government.

Why do we bother to have state governments, governors, the U.S. Congress or a president when any law they might pass can be overturned on a whim by a federal judge or by the Supreme Court? Why do we even bother to vote when the election results mean nothing to the Supreme Court?

The Supreme Court is out of control and needs to be restrained. We need a Constitutional Amendment to limit the power of the High Court and return the making of law to the legislative branch of our government.

This is supposed to be a democracy, a government “Of the people, By the People, For the People,” not the de facto government of the Supreme Court.
