Several opportunities to see fireworks

| July 2, 2015 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - For alternatives to the fireworks show in Coeur d'Alene Saturday night, there are plenty of others being held in the surrounding communities.

One of the most popular alternatives is in Bayview, where Bayview Days will stretch from Friday through Sunday.

A street fair will start Friday and roll through Sunday, but many of the activities will be held on Saturday.

In years past, depending on which day the Fourth of July landed, the Bayview Chamber of Commerce would hold its celebration the following Saturday - giving people the opportunity to attend more than one show over the holiday.

"If you try and come up here on Sunday night, you'll miss the whole thing," said Chamber Board Member Norma Jean Knowles.

The event will include a pancake feed on Friday morning in the Bayview Community Center from 8 until 11 a.m. On Saturday there will be a parade, free to anyone who wants to participate.

Participants must show up at 9 a.m. and the half-hour parade will start promptly at 11 a.m. At 9 p.m. there will be a lighted boat parade followed by the fireworks at 10 p.m.

Other celebrations:

* The city of Rathdrum usually has a fireworks show, but that will not happen this year, according to employees at the Golden Spike which normally sponsors the event.

* Spirit Lake will have a parade at 11 a.m. and games all day in the Spirit Lake Park. Fireworks will start at dusk.

* Silverwood also has a Fireworks Extravaganza at dusk accompanied by patriotic music.

* Harrison will have a fireworks show at the waterfront from 9 to 9:30 p.m.

* Stateline Speedway will also have a fireworks show and demolition derby on Friday, July 3.
