ITA looking for volunteers for trail maintenance work
The Idaho Trails Association is looking for volunteers to help do maintenance work on Saturday, July 11 on the Roman Nose Lakes trail No. 165 in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest.
Trail association members will be re-installing 4-inch timbers, repairing water bars, cutting back brush, and doing other light maintenance chores.
The Roman Nose Lakes trail system includes easy loops through alpine terrain high in the Selkirk Mountains west of Bonner's Ferry. The Idaho Trails Association will be doing the maintenance work to help make this popular trail more enjoyable for the hikers, berry pickers and fishermen who come here.
Volunteers will use hand tools provided by the Forest Service and ITA. Everyone should bring work gloves, sturdy shoes, lunch and water. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the trailhead at the end of Forest Road 2667. Work will be completed by 4 p.m.
Volunteers are asked to sign up ahead of time to carpool to the trailhead. Please go to the Idaho Trails Association website at: www.IdahoTrailsAssociation.org and sign up online for the Roman Nose Lakes project. For more information before July 11, please email the leader, Phil Hough, at www.nowhere_man97@hotmail.com, or call at (208) 946-9127.
