| July 2, 2015 4:43 AM

Lynn Borders announced he will seek election in November to Post Falls City Council seat No. 5.

The seat is currently held by Skip Hissong, who is retiring.

“I believe in structured, managed and controlled growth and will consider issues on their own merits and values to the community,” Borders said in his announcement.

Borders has 37 years of public service experience in local government. He was hired as the first full-time fire inspector for Post Falls in January 1981. Borders became fire chief of the Post Falls Fire Protection District in 1984. Following a consolidation, he became fire chief of Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, a position he held until his retirement in 2009.

Following his retirement from KCFR, Borders became full-time chief of the Kootenai County Emergency Medical Services System until retiring in 2013.

He currently serves as chairman of the Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission. He also serves as a volunteer deputy emergency operations center manager for Kootenai County.
