| July 1, 2015 9:00 PM

Murray Clayton Carkuff, 71, passed away peacefully in his home June 22, 2015, after a tough battle with ALS.

Murray was born on May 4, 1944, to Marjorie and Clayton Carkuff in Coeur d'Alene. In 1978 Murray married Carol DeVall. Together they enjoyed six kids, 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Murray started working at a young age and held several professions before settling into the construction business. He was always looking for new ways to learn and grow as an individual. In 2009 he retired from his superintendent position at Debco Construction.

Murray was nicknamed by many as the "The Taz Maniema" due to the fact he was always on the run.

Murray had many gifts and talents, but his family knew him best as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved the great outdoors, NASCAR, and old cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kimberly Carkuff; grandson Kelly Carkuff; and brother-in-law, Bruce Miles. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children Darren Carkuff (Rory), Janet Hall (Les), Shawn Carkuff (Crystal), Heath Carkuff (Amy), Dustin Carkuff (Kelly) and Tony DeVall (Errika); sisters Sharon Miles, Marjean Millsap (Jim) and Candi Crockett (Duane); 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

We will be celebrating his life at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene.
