| July 1, 2015 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - The Northern Lakes Mountaineers took advantage of big innings in the first and second game to sweep a doubleheader 7-6 and 17-6 against the Prairie Cardinals in North Idaho League play on Tuesday at Post Falls High.

Northern Lakes scored six runs in the second inning of the first game and took advantage of five walks and two errors in first inning of the second game to score eight runs in the inning.

"It wasn't just errors in the first game, but some makeable plays that we didn't quite make," Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. "We played a little bit of sloppy defense to score those runs. In the second game, we put ourselves in a big hole and couldn't dig ourselves out."

Prairie (6-24, 0-8 NIL) will face Meridian at 3 p.m. and Missoula at 6 in pool play in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Fourth of July Wood Bat Classic at Post Falls High on Thursday.

Northern Lakes (2-2 NIL) opens play in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Fourth of July Wood Bat Classic on Thursday at Lakeland High in Rathdrum.
