Jack Bernard Thornton, 56

Jack Bernard Thornton, 56, of Hayden, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015.

Jack was born in Evansville, Ind. He worked for Kootenai County Solid Waste. He had much love for camping, hunting, fishing and everything outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping with his mom, dad and sister, Phyllis.

Jack met and courted his wife My Le 27 years ago. Their favorite pastime was fishing, they were quite a team at it. He and his twin sister, Jackie, had a very close and special bond. He adored, and was very proud of, his daughter Callia. He was especially close to the Le and Newman families.

Jack had many wonderful friends that he made many memories with - Danny LaChapelle was his best friend of 42 years. Jack liked traveling to many places over the years including Jamaica, Hawaii and Vietnam.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Nancy Thornton; brothers Larry McReynolds, Gary Thornton and Lonnie Thornton.

Surviving Jack are his wife, My (Le) Thornton and daughter Callia, daughter Cristina Fetzer, son Buddy Le (Shawny); grandkids Maddox and Jovie; sisters Jackie (Jakob) Ruchti of Coeur d'Alene, Phyllis (Neil) VanDemark of Rathdrum, Phyllis DeRousse of St. Louis, Miss., Carilyn Dillman and Marilyn Skiles, both of Bloomington, Ind., and brother Donnie (Sandy) Riggs of Evansville, Ind.

His service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene (4th and Harrison).
