WORDS: Better source on oppression

| January 25, 2015 8:00 PM

I found the editorial “Add The Words, Idaho” was rather intriguing. Giving a group of people who practice immorality special rights by adding “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the Idaho Human Rights Act does not make a WRONG behavior RIGHT. Also, discriminating against immoral behavior does not denote discrimination against equality.

Using Martin Luther King, Jr. and the struggle for civil rights is not a fair, honest comparison of homosexuals’ struggle for legal acceptance. People with various skin colors are born that way. People who practice immoral sexual behavior are making a conscious choice.

The writer of the editorial suggested that the Legislature vigorously debate this issue because on this topic there is a great deal of misunderstanding. He continued with, “we know because we count ourselves among the generally ignorant.”

The writer also inferred that we have a responsibility to speak up and right a wrong on basic human rights. He followed this statement with another Dr. King quote, “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” The question is, who is the oppressed and who is the oppressor in the Human Rights struggle to add four words to the Human Rights Act?

I would suggest that the “generally ignorant” and those of misunderstanding would seek for answers from the Creator of man, marriage and sex. Being the Creator He knows how sexuality works best. The Bible says His Word is true and the Truth will set us FREE from oppression.
