If the measure of a full life is the number of souls you touch, Yvonne MacDonald lived a full life. She passed away from natural causes on Jan. 1, 2015.

Mom was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Alamosa, Colo. to Lawrence MacDonald and Verna Fonda. She grew up in Fort Collins, Colo. and in Colfax, Wash. She married Frank Dougherty and had two sons, Steven (Kathy) of Midway, Utah, and John (Katya) of Coeur d'Alene; she later divorced. She married Tom Griffin, moved to Coeur d'Alene, and welcomed her third son, Glenn (Nikki) of Hudson, Wis.

Mom loved life, even when things were tough. She always saw the good and ignored the bad. She enjoyed playing piano, singing, reading, volunteering at the Methodist Church and the Coeur d'Alene Visitor Center. She was Coeur d'Alene's biggest fan and talked it up with all who visited at the Visitor Center.

Mom enjoyed helping others, and loved her four-legged friends - especially those who needed extra attention and love. She rarely met a dog she didn't like.

Mom enjoyed working for the U.S. Forest Service and retired from that job after several decades.

She lived the rest of her life in Dalton Gardens and Coeur d'Alene. Her sons, their wives, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her. Mom now joins her father and mother, brother Lawrence, Jr. and sister Martha.

No service is planned, but she thought ahead and erected a granite bench in the Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene. She invites all to come visit her there and enjoy the view, as she did.

English Funeral Chapel is handling final arrangements. Please visit Yvonne's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
