LEVY: Schools one key to good life
Please join me on Tuesday, March 10 in supporting our children, our schools and our community by voting YES on the renewal of the Supplemental Levy. Idaho is a wonderful state and Coeur d’Alene is one of her premier locations to live. Along with the natural beauty we all enjoy, excellent schools and successful kids are among the most basic foundations of our community and standard of living here in Coeur d’Alene.
State budgets and spending on education have been reduced leaving local communities with the burden of sustaining some of the most essential needs in our schools. Renewing the Supplemental Levy accounts for 20 percent of our district’s total budget and it’s crucial. Voting YES on the Supplemental Levy maintains the level of funding we are already paying along with a very small increase. For most homeowners this means paying between $2 and $3 more a month than they are currently. On the other hand, the consequences of not renewing the Supplemental Levy would be devastating to our schools and a step in the wrong direction for Coeur d’Alene.
Most of you reading this letter understand this need and value our community as well as supporting our schools. However, please don’t assume this Supplemental Levy will just get renewed without your vote because it’s so obviously necessary. YOU still must follow through and get out and VOTE YES for the Supplemental Levy renewal on Tuesday, March 10.
