COUNTY: Proof of flawed system

| February 27, 2015 8:00 PM

Cronyism is alive and multiplying with Coeur d’Alene politics. The citizens showed with their voting in the previous election that they didn’t want to continue with Todd Tondee as a commissioner.

Now a position under our present three commissioners’ supervision has been created and Todd Tondee was appointed to that position at a more than average salary. What qualifications does Mr. Tondee have that gives him the title of “Transit Program Specialist?”

Once elected to downtown politics, you almost have a life-time job stepping stone. You can’t tell me that there wasn’t someone else, out of the 13 applicants that wasn’t more or just as qualified. The political talk of increasing the county commissioner positions to five instead of three just may have prevented this from happening. As Coeur d’Alene grows, this gives three people too much power to control government decisions and positions that affect a large sector of the population. If you don’t re-elect someone to a position, that should be a signal that the voting population doesn’t approve of their actions in office.
