Four Corners corridor workshop set for tonight
COEUR d'ALENE - In recent months, hundreds of people have provided input on proposed improvements to the Four Corners/BLM corridor and the community will be able to review the latest proposals during a workshop Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.
The Four Corners area stretches from Independence Point to Riverstone. Representatives of the city council, Four Corners Steering Committee and Parks and Recreation Commission will be present at the forum.
Like in the previous open house, several poster-sized exhibits illustrating the latest conceptual improvements throughout the corridor will be on display. Written comments will be accepted.
Citizens can provide comments online by visiting www.cdaid.org and clicking on the "Four Corners" tab on the top of the page.
The primary goal of the master planning process is to devise a conceptual plan that includes uses approved by the Bureau of Land Management, which owns property in the northwest portion of the corridor roughly from Memorial Field to Riverstone.
If the BLM accepts the plan - which would generally require that any development provide for public uses - it could lease the property to the city at little to no cost. The city council is expected to consider the conceptual master plan in April. If approved, the plan would be forwarded to the BLM for consideration.
