Edward L. Mael, 88

Edward Lyle Mael passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015.

Edward was born Aug. 29,1926, in Roundup, Mont. He moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1946 after serving in World War II aboard the U.S.S. Lexington in the Pacific.

Edward married Charlotte "Melonie" Mael on Oct. 26, 1963. Edward and Melonie bought a small ranch in Hidden Valley near Rathdrum, Idaho, in 1965 where Edward still resided.

Edward enjoyed hunting fishing, and raising cattle. He liked to tell jokes and shoot the breeze with all. He worked in the lumber industry for 40 years, retiring in 1991 as a head rig sawyer.

During his retirement years, Edward was busy running his cattle ranch.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Melonie, in 2013. He is survived by his son and daughter-In-law, Edward and Jamie Mael; granddaughter Jillian Mael; niece Jeannie Claunch; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Coeur d'Alene VA Clinic and the Spokane VA Hospital. Special thanks to the VA Community Living Center Hospice wing for your care and kindness.
