Leadership phase begins for Idaho Arena
The University of Idaho on Thursday informed the State Board of Education of its plans to initiate a leadership phase of fundraising as the first step toward the construction of a $30 million multi-use arena on the Moscow campus.
"Informing the Board of our intention is a sign that this project is a university priority and allows us to aggressively move into the leadership phase," Idaho athletic director Rob Spear said. "The goal is to fully fund the Arena with private dollars."
Spear said the first step in realizing the completion of the project - initially proposed in 1969 and on the current six-year plan, is the leadership phase. The leadership phase, with a target of $15 million from lead donors and major sponsors, is expected to last as long as nine months and, when successful, will be followed by a public phase.
The proposed Idaho Arena would serve as a venue for court sports, provide additional office space for athletics staff, and enhance the University of Idaho's overall curb appeal. In addition to the main court, the planned venue also includes a practice court, locker rooms, convention space and offices. A large range of naming opportunities - from the main court to the building itself, will be available to donors and sponsors.
For questions or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact Associate Athletic Director Tim Mooney at (208) 885-0258 or tmooney@uidaho.edu.
