LEVY: Statistics reflect quality

Is America in trouble? It seems that troubling issues cross our paths with increased frequency from health care to taxes to national debt. As both taxpayers and parents, we have an opportunity to sustain and build this great nation right here in our own community. The answer rests with our children — our hope for a bright future.

The Coeur d’Alene School District has taken all the right steps with a long-term strategy that has quantifiable results and is most certainly fiscally responsible.

Among the remarkable accomplishments are:

• Our students continue to outperform peers on the Idaho Reading indicator, the SAT and the ACT.

• Our students have continued to score above state average on the Idaho Standards Achievement Test, every year since 2011.

• Our graduation rate has increased by 16 percent over the last 10 years with a 93 percent graduation rate for 2013.

• Our students attend college at a greater rate than both the state and the nation.

We are doing it right and the statistics cannot be denied. To continue, we need your help. Please vote YES to our 2015 school levy. It will cost the average homeowner only $2.58/month.
