War disrupts lives. And in the greatest conflict the world ever saw - World War II - it left its mark on the love, lives and relationships of thousands of American men and women.

In her first book, "War Bonds: Love Stories from the Greatest Generation," Cindy Hval shares a few of the stories from the Inland Northwest of couples brought together and kept apart by the war. The book - which includes several couples who lived in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls - is based on hours of interviews with the men and women who shared their stories and photos.

Hval will share her book during a book talk at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library, Wednesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at 702 E. Front Ave.

The author is a columnist and correspondent for the Spokesman Review.

"War Bonds" is published by Casemate and was released this month.

In addition, her work has been published in numerous magazines and anthologies including seven volumes of the "Chicken Soup For the Soul" series.

She is the mother of four sons ages 25 to 15 and is owned by two cats, also boys. She and her husband, Derek, will celebrate their 29th anniversary in August.

Copies of "War Bonds" will be available to purchase for signing at the book talk and a portion of sales will benefit the Friends of the Library.
