Morrisroe seeks election to CdA school board
Casey Morrisroe, 39, of Hayden, filed paperwork this week to run for the Zone 2 seat on the Coeur d’Alene School District Board of Trustees.
The seat is currently filled by Tom Hamilton.
Morrisroe, a Hayden and Coeur d’Alene resident since fourth grade, currently serves as vice-chair of the school district’s Long Range Planning Committee and on the Board of Directors for Sting Premier Soccer Club.
“I believe that I am the right person, at the right time, running for the right reasons. I have no hidden agenda, I care about our youth,” said Morrisroe. “I have extensive experience working with the public, developing and dealing with policy, creating and managing a budget, preparing
and reviewing financial statements and managing human resources. I also have the experience of working with a diverse group of people to reach a common goal.”
Morrisroe was one of six candidates who applied for appointment to the Zone 1 board seat in 2012 when Jim Purtee was chosen for the position. Morrisroe sought appointment to the Zone 1 seat again in December 2012 after Purtee resigned citing health reasons. The board members at that time — Tom Hamilton, Terri Seymour, Ann Seddon and Jim Hightower — appointed Brent Regan.
Morrisroe is the owner of Specialty Recreation & Marine on Appleway in Coeur d’Alene.
He lives with his wife, Katie, and their 4 daughters, the oldest 2 of whom are enrolled at Hayden Meadows.
Coeur d’Alene School District Zone 2 trustee election will be held May 19.
The deadline for school trustee candidates to file their declarations and petitions is March 20.
