Gomez transfers to
Idaho cross country/track
MOSCOW - University of Idaho director of track and field/cross country Tim Cawley announced the signing of former Coeur d'Alene High and Oregon State distance runner Kinsey Gomez during the spring signing period.
Gomez lettered all four years in cross country and track and field, and was Gatorade Athlete of the Year in 2010 and 2011.
While at Oregon State, Gomez broke the 6-kilometer school record in the 2013 cross country season and also holds the 10K outdoor record, which she set in 2014. She competed at the Pac-12 cross county championships (2011-13) and track and field championships in 2012-14.
"Kinsey is an amazing talent who has a positive attitude and is just fun to be around," Cawley said. "She is a true student athlete getting it done in the classroom as well. She is a great addition to the team."
Gomez joins first-year cross country coach Travis Floeck, who was at Oregon State before joining the Vandal staff.
