PFHS to help food bank
POST FALLS - Post Falls High students will host their annual Culture and Arts Night from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight at the school as a benefit for the Post Falls Food Bank. The public is invited.
Art students have made ceramic bowls for attendees to take home as a reminder of hunger throughout the world.
With a suggested donation of $6, attendees will receive a bowl and soup.
"This is a fun night filled with dinner and entertainment," said Amber Poelstra, PFHS ceramic arts teacher.
Canned food donations will also be collected at the door to benefit the food bank.
There will also be multicultural foods, student artwork and drama displays to enjoy.
Attendees are welcome to wear Mardi Gras costumes to fit with the theme. Face painting and balloon animals will be available.
Entertainment will be provided by the PFHS jazz band, choir, Orange Couch Improv (drama group) and local dancers.
The event is affiliated with Empty Bowls, an international grassroots effort to fight hunger, created by a nonprofit called The Imagine Render Group. Potters create handcrafted bowls and guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep the bowl as a reminder about hunger. Money raised is donated to an organization that battles hunger.
