A family-friendly breakfast and lunch diner in a park in the middle of residential neighborhoods is the plan for Chomper Cafe. The new place should open in early March in Stoddard Park at 2345 W. Prairie Ave., Hayden.

The former small farmhouse will seat about 55 customers at booths, tables and a breakfast bar and about 40 on the arbor-covered patio. The menu will include in-house roasted meats, chicken pot pies, sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, fries, omelets, waffles, pancakes, many treats and desserts, and kids, vegan and gluten-free items.

The decor is casual farmhouse with the red barn in back. Kids can practice being Little Chomper Chefs in the play kitchen.

"We want our guests to feel as comfortable and happy eating as they would at Grandma's farmhouse," said owner (with husband Russell) Sarah Baker, a restaurant industry worker for 14 years. Head chef Derek Eakin has nine years experience at area restaurants. The business also will provide catering and will host special events.

Hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Check www.chompercafe.com soon. Email Sarah at sbaker@chompercafe.com.
