RV destroyed in fire

| February 14, 2015 8:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - A small, silver recreational vehicle parked in Coeur d'Alene was reduced to a hollow shell after a Sunday night fire.

Kootenai County Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to North Seltice Way just after 10 p.m. following a report that a small RV, described as a portable unit meant to be transported in the bed of a truck, was engulfed in flames. Shortly after firefighters responded to the scene, a Kootenai County Sheriff's Deputy arrived to investigate the blaze as a possible case of arson.

In his report, the deputy wrote that he examined the vehicle after firefighters extinguished the flames and "was unable to locate the source or reason for the fire."

When a passerby asked what had happened, the deputy wrote, the two struck up a conversation and the deputy learned the vehicle had been parked in same location for at least five years.

The deputy added that he had no leads on any victims or suspects when he filed the report later that night.
