EVIL: Reject it as Americans

| February 11, 2015 8:00 PM

Sept. 11, 2001, killed more people than the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. At 9-11, most causalities were civilians; in both they were just ordinary people going to work. Fourteen years later and the evil in our world has increased. There is an inherent evil growing in the world today. It has attacked the Middle East, United States, Russia, the European Union, Africa, Canada, Australia and most peaceful allied nations. This evil kills the innocent and shows disrespect toward life and freedom. I ask, what can you do?

When you see or meet military personnel, thank them for serving their country. Only a small percent of individuals now serve our country. These men and women are an all-volunteer military force. No longer does the armed services accept anyone. Our armed services represent our nation’s best physically, mentally and emotionally. They pay the price for all of us. The old saying is true, “Freedom is not free.” What you can do is thank them.

What more can you do? When you communicate to your deity, god or creator, be you Muslim, Jewish, Christian or other, ask for peace. Ask that our military men and women serve honorably, preserve peace and return home safely. This is what you can do. You can ask your imam, priest, rabbi or spiritual leader gathered for service that your request include our military men and women. Pray that they all serve with honor and return home. This is what we collectively can do.

I am not a Bible thumping, holier than thou, crazed nut job. Although, to some, this letter may make me sound crazy. I am just an old guy asking myself what can we do? America needs to be of one mind standing together with liberty and justice for all. I simply ask that you take a moment to thank our military personnel, embrace good and reject all evil. This is what I feel I can do as a citizen of this great nation. What can you do?

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
