St. Maries falls to Grangeville

GENESEE - Hailey Sullivan scored 24 points to lead Grangeville past the St. Maries Lumberjacks 50-32 in the championship game at Genesee High School on Monday night.

Kelsey Auer scored 11 points for St. Maries (9-12) which faces Coeur d'Alene Charter on Wednesday, with the winner moving on to a Saturday state play-in game at Grangeville High.

"We had a hard time holding Sullivan down," Lumberjacks coach Jay Sines said. "She did a really good job of getting herself to the hoop and to the foul line.

"We just came up a little short."

Cd'A Charter 60, Orofino 29: Jacklyn Jensen scored a game-high 22 points to go along with 16 rebounds and eight blocks to lead the Panthers in a loser-out game at Genesee High School.

Anna Verhaeghe added 15 points, 21 rebounds and six assists for Coeur d'Alene Charter (11-10), which will face St. Maries, for a shot at a Saturday play-in game berth, on Wednesday.

The Panthers were without two starters, Sarah Haman and Ameila Lehosit, and reserve Felicia Fisher Berg, due to illnesses. Alexis Taylor added five points and nine rebounds in their absence.

"We beat them on the boards tonight," Charter coach Doug Grant said. "Jensen and Verhaeghe stepped up and played like we needed them to tonight."
