Emily Fuller, 98

| February 8, 2015 8:00 PM

Emily Fuller passed away at Creekside Inn on Feb. 5, 2015.

Emily was born on Oct. 8, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., to Paul and Emma Surin. She was the oldest of four children and grew up in Cicero, Ill. Emily fell in love with and married Virgil Fuller, the boy next door, in 1936. Emily and Virgil saved their money and built their own home in Oak Brook, Ill.

Emily was a homemaker and avid bridge player. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always made family a priority.

When Virgil retired from Western Electric, he and Emily moved from Oak Brook to Naples, Fla. where they enjoyed 10 years playing golf and living in a senior community.

In 1995, Emily and Virgil moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and were among the first residents of Forest Place, which became Fairwinds and, most recently, Northstar Retirement Community.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, in 1998; her brother Paul, and her sister Lillian. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Skarvan of Lombard, Ill.; her two daughters, Lynn Riser (Ken Keller) of Morris, Minn., and Laurie Cox (Jim) of Hayden Lake, Idaho; five grandchildren: Jeff Riser of Oakdale, Minn., Jennifer Riser of Loveland, Colo., John Cox (fiance Whitney Whealdon) of Baton Rouge, La., Dan Cox (Katie) of Milwaukee, Wis., and Suzanne Bankhead (Dennis) of Meridian, Idaho; and great-grandson James Reed Bankhead. A second Bankhead great-grandson is due in April.

At Emily's request, no funeral services will be held. English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with her care and final arrangements.
