LEWISTON (AP) - Officials with Clearwater Paper say the company lost $2.3 million in 2014.

Officials at Lewiston's largest employer tell the Lewiston Tribune that it's the only time since the company was created in 2008 that it ended the year with a loss.

The company on Wednesday issued an earnings report that says the company lost $27 million in the last three months of 2014 after making $25 million earlier in the year.

Clearwater Paper President and CEO Linda K. Massman says competition in the consumer tissue division that includes items such as toilet paper accounted for much of the loss.

But she says the company is taking steps and expects its share of the U.S. tissue market to increase from 7.3 percent in 2014 to 8.1 percent this year.
