Thought of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail?

COEUR d'ALENE - A long-distance backpacking workshop is scheduled for Feb. 21, sponsored by the American Long Distance Hiking Association-West.

This clinic is designed for anyone interested in doing a long distance hike, especially on the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, or any of the other long distance or National Scenic Trails.

Presenters in this clinic have hiked more than 5,000 to 10,000 miles each and will share from their experiences.

Special presenters Phil and Deb Hough are Triple Crown recipients, having hiked the Pacific Crest, Appalachian and Continental Divide trails.

Topics covered in this seven-hour clinic include, hiking the Triple Crown, leaving no trace on the trail, town etiquette, resources for planning a hike and re-supplying on hikes.

The clinic will be in Coeur d'Alene at the House at Lake City Community Church, at 6200 N. Ramsey Road. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A chili lunch will be provided. A $10 donation is requested.
