PREP WRESTLING: Hawks get seven pins in romp at Moscow

MOSCOW - The visiting Lakeland Hawks won seven matches by pin on Wednesday to beat the Moscow Bears 71-15 in a wrestling dual at Bear Den.

"We wrestled well as a group," Lakeland assistant coach Zach Horsley said. "Moscow is a young team and there was a few close matches. All of our younger kids in the lineup wrestled hard tonight."

William Edelblute (98 pounds), Tyler Siegford (120), Jorden Pennock (132), Austin Garitone (145), Tuekota Tate-Vandever (152), Britt Dickens (160), Jared Walker (170) and Tanner Read (182) had pins for Lakeland, which travels to Sandpoint next Thursday.

"We competed hard and are starting to peak at the right time," Horsley said. "The kids are looking good heading to regionals in a few weeks."

Humphrey, Walters win

twice by pin for 'Jacks

ST. MARIES - Hayden Humphrey (126 pounds) and Isaac Walters (160) won both their matches by pin for the Lumberjacks in matches against the visiting Priest River Spartans and Orofino Maniacs.

Team scores were not kept.

Humphrey pinned Tyler Vankomen of Orofino in 1 minute, 52 seconds in their first match, then pinned him again in 45 seconds.

Walters pinned Tristen Jammerman of Orofino in 1:36, and Ryan Hanson of Priest River in 1:36.

St. Maries competes in the Bonners Ferry tournament on Friday and Saturday.
