Post Falls Police offer safe places to meet

| February 5, 2015 8:00 PM

POST FALLS - The Post Falls Police Department encourages citizens to utilize its parking lot for meetings with strangers, especially for purchases of goods advertised online.

Being in the vicinity of law enforcement will often deter criminal activity. The police department is also a good place to make child custody exchanges.

In addition, Post Falls Police is equipped with a 24-hour "Safe Room" inside the front lobby. Anyone fearing for their imminent safety, such as being followed or chased, can enter the Safe Room, close the automatic-locking door and pick up the phone that directly connects to PFPD's 911 dispatch center. Post Falls Police provides the only Safe Room in the area.

A Georgia couple recently made national news when they disappeared after arranging to buy a car from a purported seller through Craigslist about three hours from their home. Law enforcement later found the couple deceased. The male they met was arrested on murder charges.

"There are some safer options for these types of transactions," a PFPD press release states.

Post Falls Police is located at 1717 E. Polston Ave. For more information, call 773-3517.
