Lakeland clamps down on Moscow

MOSCOW - Jay Plunkett scored 16 points and Slader Ray had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lakeland Hawks past the Moscow Bears 50-33 in a 4A Inland Empire League game at Bear Den on Tuesday.

"We rebounded the ball really well and got the ball to (posts) Jay Plunkett and Slader Ray inside," Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. "It was another good defensive effort. It's been key for us lately."

Tyrel Derrick finished with 11 points, 10 assists and four steals for Lakeland (12-5, 2-1 4A IEL), which travels to Priest River on Friday.

Jack Akey scored 14 points for Moscow (1-13, 0-3).

LEWISTON - Tony Naccarato scored 16 points for the Vikings in a loss to the Bengals in a 5A Inland Empire League game at Booth Hall.

"We didn't shoot the ball well and they did," Coeur d'Alene coach Kurt Lundblad said. "We finished 15 of 66 from the field and they were 16 of 31, and it's hard to win a game like that. Lewiston made shots and attitude, effort-wise, we didn't get off the bus tonight."

Brody Lundblad scored 11 points for Coeur d'Alene (12-7, 2-3 5A IEL), which travels to Post Falls on Saturday.

Trystan Bradley scored 15 points for Lewiston (8-10, 1-3).
