PREP WRESTLING: Post Falls captures North Idaho Rumble

COEUR d'ALENE - Post Falls junior Alius De La Rosa was named the North Idaho Rumble's Most Outstanding Wrestler after earning a 6-3 decision over Kellogg's Blake Ivie in the 138-pound championship match, one of four Trojan champions Saturday at Coeur d'Alene High.

"Alius had a real dominant weekend," Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. "It was cool to see him wrestle a kid that he lost to at Tri-State, and when he got another chance, he made the most of it."

Matt McLeod (106 pounds), Drake Foster (126), Seth McLeod (182) and Justin Farnsworth (285) also claimed championships for Post Falls, which took the team title with 260 points.

"Everyone had a great weekend," Reardon said. "For Matt, a freshman to get a pin in the finals, that was big. Drake got a pin and he was dominant, and both Seth and Justin were just dominant. We're excited for how the team is competing as a whole. We had a lot of kids that finished the tournament well and showed a lot of heart."

Lakeland, which finished second with 171.5 points, had three champions in William Edelblute (98), Larry Johnson (113) and Killian Estes (195).

"All of them wrestled really solid," Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. "It was a great effort from everyone, especially those guys in the back end of the consolation round and fighting back for third place."

Host Coeur d'Alene finished fifth, with Kaleb Maciosek (106), Drew Gorringe (145) and Anthony Reimer (170) finishing second.

"It was a tough tournament," Coeur d'Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. "It was probably the toughest since we originated it (in 2011). Anthony had a great weekend and Drew Gorringe had a big win in the semifinals. The kids have gotten better throughout the season and have made a lot of big strides."

Sandpoint's Casey Randles beat Reimer by technical fall in the 170-pound title match.
