POEM: Remarkable Redeemer
In her arms she held the tender gift, this rarest of gifted baby boys.
The angel said Yeshuah should be this gifted baby’s name (Hebrew for Jesus)
The holy one of God, the Messiah, the Redeemer prophesied to come.
Did they realize the exceptionally gifted man, this baby would become.
Not just here or there, but wholly genius in all possible ways
His wholeness excelled, and his holiness exalted, unique in totality
Did they ever see this at all in the rush and routine of everyday chores
Did they ever see this at all or understand who he really was
Or were they blind to all of love’s exudings
This child, this adolescent, this teen, was different, so remarkable and so very rare
It wasn’t just that he told the truth, he was the truth personified and human
From the first a child of wit and joy, then the scholar who asked the questions
Then a teen alone in prayer and adoration of the one who was his father truly. Where did he learn to read the holy scrolls, did a knowing smile on Joseph’s face perceive
What things he did so well, exceptionally well past his siblings did he soar
Did those doctors of the law know, to whom they spoke, and he at only 12 years old. Too soon they rushed at him to leave, to take him home, cutting short his father’s business
How would thins have been different had they allowed this boy Saviour to stay
Had they all too soon forgotten what the Angles had to say about this genius child so bold.
Brilliance who was foretold. To save his people from their sins the holy angel did proclaim
But this masterminded boy obeyed the Saviour of the world to become
Who would win the most incredible victory in time, in time to come
Laying down his body, his soul, his genius mind, to die a death no one had in mind. The perfect spotless lamb gave himself, and what a self it was he gave. Only the father knew in total what the cost of a sinless sacrifice would be.
And this the Son of God who obediently gave himself, his perfect self away.
The save such sinners, such sinners as you and me to make us free so utterly free. Holy King of the Jews, and King of the Gentiles too, be my Holy Saviour-King and Reign.
Reign in my heart, and mind, and soul forever reign my risen King and Lord.
