St. Maries junior Nate Masterson was named to the 2A first team as a defensive lineman as the all-Idaho football teams were announced Sunday by The Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Masterson recorded 62 tackles, and six sacks, and forced five fumbles for the Lumberjacks, who reached the quarterfinals of the state 2A playoffs.

Four Sandpoint Bulldog seniors were named to the 4A first team — wide receiver Wyatt McCormick-Cox, offensive lineman Carlos Collado, linebacker Paul Sundquist and defensive back Colt Engel.

Sandpoint players named to the second team — all seniors — were quarterback Davan Norris, running back Kyle Perry, offensive lineman Travis Davis, defensive lineman Sam Johnson and defensive back Caiden Oliver.

Post Falls landed a pair of seniors on the 5A second team defense — linebacker Gunnar Sciortino and defensive back Preston Bourgard. Senior lineman Nate Jensen of Coeur d’Alene was named to the 5A second team offense.

Lewiston landed two players on the 5A second team — junior quarterback Colton Richardson and senior wide receiver Kempton Sharp.

Senior kicker Jason Shutes of Bonners Ferry was named to the 3A second team.

Grangeville players named to the 2A first team included senior running back Jake Kaschmitter, senior wide receiver Austin Parks and senior end/linebacker Cole Lindsley. Orofino senior defensive back Gabe Turner also made the first team.

St. Maries junior defensive lineman Donaven Rottini was named to the 2A second team. Also making the second team were Parks at defensive back, Grangeville senior offensive lineman Jakob Layman and Orofino junior defensive lineman Mason Waite.

Deary of the 1A Division II White Star League landed three players on the 1A (combined Division I and II players) team. Senior running back Tyler Anderson made the first team, and senior offensive lineman Hunter Vallem and junior linebacker Seth Winter were named to the second team.

The all-Idaho teams are compiled following a poll of coaches statewide.

THIS WEEK: A handful of teams get into the pre-holiday spirit by heading to tournaments — Lake City and Post Falls’ girls to the Timberlion tourney in Boise; Post Falls’ boys to the Curtis Winter Classic in Tacoma, Wash., and the North Idaho Christian girls to a tourney in Sitka, Alaska.

And of course, the prestigious Tri-State wrestling tournament, attracting many of the top teams and wrestlers from (not three, but) four states, unfolds Friday and Saturday at North Idaho College.
