COEUR d’ALENE — Kenny Louie-McGee had 20 points and four assists for the Lake City Timberwolves, who fell 74-51 to the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups in nonleague play Tuesday night.

Lake City led 35-31 at halftime, but were outscored 43-16 in the second half.

“We executed extremely well in the first half,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “We moved the ball well and guarded with a ton of energy in the first half. In the second half, you’ve really got to give credit to Prep, they’re really good. We just didn’t execute offensively and we’re limited with injuries. We just ran out of gas in the second half.”

James Carlson had 11 points and three blocks for Lake City (1-2), which hosts Sandpoint on Friday.

Logan Adams scored 18 points to lead Gonzaga Prep.

“We were pretty balanced tonight,” Coeur d’Alene coach Kurt Lundblad said. “Brody shot the ball really well tonight. It was good to get a win, and they’ve got a good team. I’m just really pleased with our defensive effort and how we played as a team. We did a better job of sharing the ball and making the extra pass. We shot the ball better than we had been tonight.”

Brody Lundblad also had five assists and Joey Naccarato had nine rebounds and nine points for Coeur d’Alene (3-1), which plays at St. Maries in the Pack the Gym spirit game on Friday.

SPOKANE — West Valley went on a 12-0 run in the third quarter, putting enough distance past itself and the Hawks to earn the nonleague win.

“We kind of went cold at that point,” Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. “We had some of the same shots as we did in the first half, they just weren’t falling for us. We had to play from behind, but I thought we played pretty well. They hit a few free throws to ice it at the end. There was a five-minute stretch where we couldn’t buy a bucket.”

Dylan Knight scored 10 points to go with seven rebounds for the Hawks (1-1). Andrew Knight added 10 points and Dan McDevitt tacked on nine points and three steals.

“Defensively, we came out real aggressive and forced some turnovers and did a good job of that in the first half,” said Timberlake coach Matt Miller, whose team opened a 27-6 lead after the first quarter. “We got a lot of shots at the hoop and made a high percentage. It was a great, balanced attack for us, especially defensively. I was really happy with our defensive effort and we did a better job of rebounding, which had been our Achilles heel thus far.”
