Marvin C. Deitz, 71

| December 9, 2015 8:00 PM

Marvin C. Deitz, 71, passed away Dec. 5, 2015, after a battle with cancer, his family by his side, in the extraordinary care of the providers at Hospice House of North Idaho. Known to his friends as Marv, Marvin was a resident of Harrison, Idaho.

Marvin was born the sixth of seven children in Bismarck, N.D. In school he excelled academically and was a member of the boxing team.

After high school Marvin entered the U.S. Air Force, using the opportunity for world travel to take in culture whenever possible. He served two tours in Vietnam with the Air Force.

His appreciation for the earth was always clear. He loved to garden and spent much of his free time reading, fishing or enjoying his property on the Harrison Flatts. A self-taught craftsman, Marv made a living building beautiful custom furniture for some time. He then became a machinist and worked from his residence for many years. He continued to build furniture for his family as a hobby.

Marvin had two daughters, Tonee’ Trzcinski and Rebecca Deitz-Johnson. An incredibly supportive parent, he always took the high road in teaching his daughters the value of hard work, integrity and grace. Above everything, he valued his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Marvin will be remembered for his creative and giving heart. He was always available to help a friend in need. The life of the party and a great conversationalist, his imagination and passion for knowledge were obvious throughout his entire life. Marv had a great sense of humor and his laugh was contagious.

Marvin is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Tonee’ and Ed Trzcinski, and Sean and Rebecca Johnson; and two grandchildren, Cammy White and Anthony Trzcinski.

There will be a small family memorial service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a small donation to the Hospice House of North Idaho or the American Cancer Society.
