LEWISTON (AP) - Downtown Lewiston juniper and cedar bushes are being targeted by a prolific arsonist.
The Lewiston Tribune reports nine bushes have been struck in three weeks. Fire Chief Travis Myklebust says these small fires could turn into larger ones.
The most recent incident was Sunday night, and it left a Main Street ornamental bush dripping and charred.
Lewiston Police Lt. Budd Hurd says the investigation began earlier this month, but that arson cases are hard to solve and prosecute.
He said he's worried the incidents will escalate as dry summer weather sets in.
