More than 600 archers participated in the Coeur d'Alene Bowmen's first 3-D archery tournament of the year.

The archery club, in existence since 1955, held the event April 11-12 near Farragut State Park in Athol.

Participants from all over the Pacific Northwest took aim at life-sized, foam core animals over four courses.

"Strong winds, snow and rain didn't deter men, women and children who looked forward to taking out their bows, judging distance and improving accuracy," said organizers in a press release.

The Coeur d'Alene Bowmen hold three 3-D shootouts a year. Their next archery tournament will take place June 6-7. More information about the club and its events can be found at www.cdabowmen.com.
