| April 15, 2015 9:00 PM

A free class for those in the process of buying a home will be offered May 18 in Coeur d'Alene.

The Finally Home! Homebuyer Education class offered by the Idaho Housing and Finance Association in partnership with the Coeur d'Alene Association of Realtors will be held from 5:15 to 9:45 p.m. at 409 W. Neider Ave., Suite A.

Specifically designed for first-time homebuyers in the early stages of buying a home, these classes take students through each step of the process from selecting a real estate broker to applying for a loan.

Upon completion, graduates may qualify for financial incentives including down payment and closing cost assistance, higher debt ratio programs, lower mortgage insurance premiums and "gifted funds" at closing.

Since Finally Home! Homebuyer Education started in 1999, more than 40,000 Idahoans have graduated. In 2014, a record 3,597 people took advantage of this important class helping them to avoid costly mistakes in the home-buying process.

The in-person classes are offered monthly throughout the year for $20 per student, but they are being offered at no charge throughout the state during May.

The Coeur d'Alene training location serves home buyers in Benewah, Kootenai and Shoshone counties.

An online course is also available for $50. It can be found at finallyhomecourse.com
