Hot Stuff: Education group to host "Disco Inferno" fundraiser

| September 27, 2014 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - It's going to be an evening of dancing and singing to the most popular 1970s disco music.

Songs like Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive," the Village People's "YMCA," and "Funky Town" by Lipps, Inc. will electrify the dance floor of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles for the Disco Inferno Coeur d'Alene Education Partnership fundraiser from 7-10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4.

"We wanted to bring something different and fun to the community, while raising money for a very worthy cause in our local schools," said CEP President Nancy Hart. "We're hoping people from all facets of the community will come have fun, let their hair down, and support our schools."

Proceeds will be used to purchase books and supplies for each school library in the Coeur d'Alene School District.

The evening will include a short presentation by Kiersten Kerr, librarian at Coeur d'Alene High School. Kerr was selected as the 2013-2014 Coeur d'Alene School District Rookie Teacher of the Year and was named district Classified Employee of the Year for 2008-2009. Librarians from each school have been invited to be honored guests for the evening.

Tickets are $35 and are available online only at www.cdaep.org/disco-inferno. Admission includes '70s-themed appetizers and a complimentary drink ticket.

Capacity at the Eagles is limited, so community members are encouraged to purchase tickets early.

The Coeur d'Alene Education Partnership is an independent nonprofit education advocacy group created in 2012 by local, private citizens. Information:www.cdaep.org.
