McEUEN: List all the costs, Press

Each time I see the amount of taxpayer money spent for McEuen Park, it seems to be reduced. The Press’s online poll recently stated it cost $19.6 million. That is incorrect.

I hereby request The Press to present an itemized list of the final costs of this project...which will include cost overruns such as the $600,000 worth of extra steel to reinforce the 120-space parking garage. It will be an interesting topic for one of your reporters.

Editor’s note: Linda is correct — for the most part, anyway. According to city spokesman Keith Erickson, the total spent on the park to date is $20,213,000. Erickson said the additional rebar ended up costing $184,245.72, not $600,000. The Press published the city’s accounting for the park Sunday on cdapress.com:
