It's a big weekend in Cd'A

| September 24, 2014 9:00 PM

The Lake City will revel in the arrival of fall this weekend with a festival celebrating the beauty of the lake and the fun of the season.

Coeur d'Fondo, taking place Saturday, offers bicyclists the option to do as many - or as few - miles as they like. The course follows the forested shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene along Highway 97, one of Idaho's most scenic byways. Some tour options include a cruise boat return ride to Coeur d'Alene.

Competitive and non-competitive bike ride options are available, including a "Family Fun" ride of 15 miles. Registration details and race-day information is available at www.cdagranfondo.com.

Oktoberfest starts 5 p.m. Friday in downtown Coeur d'Alene with the official tapping of the first keg in the main tent area at Second Street and Sherman Avenue.

The event continues through Saturday and offers German food and live music in addition to the libations.

The lineup of harvest brews scheduled to make an appearance include: Beck's Oktoberfest, Ironhorse Irish Death, Shock Top Pumpkin, Odell Brewing IPA, Kootenai River Huckleberry Wheat and Firestone Pivo Pilsner.

Musical acts scheduled include Native Sun, The Coeur d'Alene Big Band and Shiner.

Tickets to Oktoberfest are $20 and include a keepsake glass mug, six sampling tickets and admission to all music venues. Participants must be 21 years or older to purchase and use sampling tickets. ID is required at the event.

Oktoberfest tickets are available at The Resort Plaza Shops at 210 E. Sherman Ave. from 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, and from 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, while supplies last.
