Susan Watkins Parris, 76

| September 20, 2014 9:00 PM

Susan Watkins Parris, 76, passed away on Sept. 10, 2014, at home. She lived in Harrison, Idaho, for the last 21 years.

Susan was born in Illinois, and married Douglas in North Hollywood, Calif., in 1953. She loved her home in the country with all of her animals, and spent her time with family, religious studies, computer operations and writing poetry.

She is survived by her husband, three sisters, and sister to anyone who would ask for her sage advice. Susan was mother to two sons and a daughter-in-law whom she loved like her own. And mother to several others who she took under her wing. She was teacher to many, grandmother to five wonderful children, and Aunt to many who all loved and respected her.

Here is her favorite poem which was published in 1977.

Listen To Your Heart

Be still, be still

Oh mind of mind

You think you know it all.

Be still, be still

Oh rational thoughts

For you, I do not call.

Leave me be, for just awhile

Drift far, far away

I want so much

To hear my heart,

Especially - today.

How hard it is, to find the way,

It's been so long, you see,

My intellect has overcome

My fun and fancy - free.

Problems here, decisions there,

I view them from all sides

And with the knowledge I possess

I take them all in stride.

I sort them out, one by one,

An answer to derive,

And still, when all is tallied up,

No matter how I've tried,

The answer which my mind contrives

My heart doth them deny.

So while I ponder all I've learned,

And think I'm oh so smart.

I'd best take heed.

And listen to

The wisdom of my heart.
