• NIC to host free story metrics workshop

North Idaho College will present a free, interactive workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Student Union Building's Lake Coeur d'Alene Room.

The workshop is hosted by Martin Klubeck, a strategy and planning consultant and recognized expert in the field of practical metrics.

Klubeck is a strategy and planning consultant at the University of Notre Dame and author of "Metrics: How to Improve Key Business Results." Klubeck will share the simple truths behind creating and using story metrics and meaningful performance measures - helping show a clearer picture of organizational health and what can be done better.

• Combat veterans group plans rifle raffle fundraiser

The North Idaho Chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is holding a drawing for a new AR-15 rifle, which is on display at Black Sheep in Coeur d'Alene.

Just 300 tickets will be sold at $10 each. Tickets can be purchased from any CVMA member or by email to info@northidahocvma.org.

The drawing is Oct 4 during the organization's Burgers and Brew fundraiser, noon to 4 p.m. at Mad Bomber Brewery in Hayden. Ticket holders need not be present to win. There will be barbecued burgers, hot dogs and moose burgers available in the brewery parking lot, with all proceeds donated back into the community.

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is composed of combat veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces who ride motorcycles as a hobby. Its mission is to support and defend veterans and their families, to assist veteran care facilities, to provide a warm meal, clothing, shelter and guidance, or to simply say, "Thank you, and welcome home."

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, 100 percent of the money raised by the North Idaho Chapter of the CVMA is distributed to local community and veteran organizations. Information: www.northidahoCVMA.org.
